Tribhuvan International Airport (1966-1971) : Nepal's only "International Airport"

Tribhuvan International airport is the only international airport of Nepal till date. The airport is situated in Kathmandu(capital city of Nepal), Bagmati Pradesh, Nepal. It is operating with a tabletop runway, one domestic and an international airport, it connects Nepal to over 40 destinations in 17 countries. The airport is a hub for two international airlines, the flag carrier Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines, along with several other domestic and regional carriers.
The airport was originally named Gauchaur Airport,after the area of Kathmandu where it was situated. In Nepali "Gauchaur" refers to place where cow graze. The aviation first begun in 1949.On 15 June,1955, the airport was inaugurated by King Mahendra and renamed it as Tribhuvan Airport in memory of King's father.
